Provence

at you door

Villes sur Auzon is one of the starting points for discovering the wild Nesque canyon : You can admire this spectacular canyon with a depth of 400m by following the Nesque river for about 20km from Villes sur Auzon to Monieux. A short loop by car will allow you to go around it either from Villes sur Auzon in the West, or from Sault to the East. On foot, it's a 2h30mn round trip by the GR9, marked in brown.
The road rises rapidly above the plain and soon offers you spectacular views of the gorges and their deep faults. The highest point of the gorges (872 m) is at Castellaras belvedere located 3 km before Monieux... vertigo guaranteed! Then the Nesque disappears underground and reappears at Fontaine de Vaucluse.

From the highest point of Villes-sur-Auzon you can admire the panoramic view featuring the gorges of the Nesque and the silhouette of the giant of Provence, the Mont Ventoux. The village itself offers a lot of charm with its ochre houses, old fountains, small streets and its quiet Provençal atmosphere...and even has two specialists in instrument making (flute and guitar). The Provençal market is a must-see, every Wednesday morning...
You are here in the land of Good Food and Good Drink!

Avignon and its famous Popes Palace are only 45km away. Closer still, the photogenic Senanque Abbey and the spectacular Thouzon Cave (ideal for cooling off in summer) await you each about 25km from our house.
